Growing up, I was inspired by tales of heroism, romanticism, and bravery embodied in the works of authors like Tolstoy and Jane Austen. I also felt connected to the contemplative emotions and intrusive thoughts carried by individuals like those in Dostoevsky’s novels. I started writing because of this love of reading, and I wanted to make a difference in my community by showcasing my art and then redistributing the profit made from that back to the Ann Arbor community in the form of clothes, food, and supplies for peers.
The Adventures of Jimmy Hailbuster
“The Adventures of Jimmy Hailbuster†is a story about a young American officer, Jimmy Hailbuster, who serves in the British army during the French and Indian War. In this action-filled novel, Hailbuster participates in grueling battles and experiences untold tormentations, but manages to make it back home. He later starts a printing business, travels, and becomes successful in his own right. The story focuses on the topic of evolving happiness and how individuals can recover and find their own happiness.
The Grim Reaper in the Alley
"The Grim Reaper in the Alley" is a story about a high school student, Sam, and his friend, who explore unexplained serial murders and incidents in their hometown. The mysterious events are revealed to be the work of an almost supernatural entity, somehow immune to being captured. The questions that remain are whether this entity is actually a person and whether Sam can stop it before it's too late.
Nate Culisbury
"Nate Culisbury" is a sequel to "The Adventures of Jimmy Hailbuster." Nate Culisbury is a British officer who is a friend of Jimmy Hailbuster. Culisbury, like Hailbuster, serves during the Seven Years' War, except in the European theater of the war instead of in North America. The novel explores campaigns that Culisbury participates in and shows the 18th century war experience as Anglo-Prussian forces attempt to defend their holdings and defeat a coalition of enemies including France, Austria, and Russia. This tale is a more mature version of the sequel and portrays the sentiments of a young soldier even more vividly and the miserable experiences of war even more honestly.
